Yearn
Everywhere we hear about trust
To build each other we just need to trust
To confess, we believe, it builds up our faith
To hide the whole Word, it strengthen our faith
The Word puts to practice, its heart is in action
To do good than say, gets a better reaction
To hope for the things that are yet unseen
Is but a believers dream, still he yearns for the unseen
Sheaf
They look at me yet not see me
They listen to me yet not hear me
They touch me yet not feel me
They talk yet dont comprehend me
Just a shadow upon this earth
Floating, flying see me crying
Sailing, soaring hear me crying
Dancing prancing feel me dying
A feather so insignificant blowing
A spot, a sheaf of life I moaneth.
Tiger
Tiger, tiger in the night light
Burning so radiant in the moon light
How long will you shine your radiant light?
So majestic your stripes aglow
Tiger, tiger so magnificent and divine
You roam the jungles forests and pines
How long will you shine your radiant light?
So majestic your stripes aglow
Tiger, tiger your coats of gold
You look so fierce and are so bold
How long will you shine your radiant light?
So majestic your stripes aglow
We stand together and join the fight
To ensure your life should be our right
We pledge no longer to fade your light
So majestic your stripes aglow
My Deliverer
Everywhere I turn darkness seems to lurk
The shadows reaching out to take a hold of me
Surrounded by fears and untold pain, I hear
you have been delivered from all your fear
‘I have you safe in the palm of My hands’…
Whenever I am lost and so weary
The world around seems so crazy
Surrounded by all the chaos and confusion
My hope is in Him my Fountain of Strength
He makes me rise on eagles wings
The foolishness of the world around me
Its ideals seem to be thrust deep within me
Surrounded by foolishness and its fruits
I learn, my God is beside me to guide me
The foolish He takes and shames the wise’
The weak and the lowly He makes strong
Broken scorned and died so now I am strong
His obedience became for us wisdom from God
Strengthened with wisdom and love from above
For the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom
Grandpa
My Grandpa with his stick and hat
Would be up and out at six
All dressed up and so grand
He would be out till noon
Hed then drag in a dear friend or mate
And ensure that he has a full plate
By sun down he is out and about
To sing with his friend down the street
Fenny for his night time company
While regaling us with stories of old
And as he prays and prepares for bed
Plans for the next day fill up his head.
Airborne
I recall an instance so vivid and clear
Its image in my mind not so much a blear
I m taken back to a place and time
When I was on the plane my first time
My parents friends decided to take
It upon themselves to watch over me
And calm all my nerves, a herculean task
As I moved, around screaming and yelling
For my mom and dad whom I did not see
They sang and tried all they could to cheer me
But in vain for I was crying in pain
Wanting to see those that I love
As the plane soared high in the sky
To console me they then began to lie
Look out the window at the clouds
Your family then youll see
Floating high upon the clouds
I looked down and lo below
I saw my parents on a cloud
They were so far below
They didnt hear me shout
I begged them not to leave me here
Alas! They didnt even hear
That all I wanted was them near
When suddenly the clouds parted
With it my parents departed
Just like magic vanished in thin air
Leaving me with bitter memories
Of my first air borne day!
The need of the hour
Education is the need of the hour
Doesnt matter the place or the tower
If the village and the city are to meet
Education is what they need
The 2020 vision is at reach
Not until the two ends meet
To fulfill our entire nations need
The village and the city meet
Education for all will put a spoke
In the minds of all who vote
Words from those who bribe the nation
With false hope and endless propagation
My Elixir of Life
I spend all my time feeling so alone
With no sign of hope all I do is roam
I long to go home to that City so fair
But all before me are people who stare
So cold hearted they are all on their knees
Seeking mere man they are bent to please
This is not the life I seek, to be an appeaser
For what good will come to one who is pleaser?
What I need this Earth has nothing to offer
So I look towards Heaven to fill up my coffer
I know this world is no longer my home
I m just a wayward guest trying to find some rest
His Word I cherish way deep within
Cause its the path thatll lead me to him
With peace and everlasting joy I find
I am the Way the Truth and the Life
And then I praise and thank Jesus
My Elixir of Life!
Unchanging God
My problems are so many
Ive been tried and so weary
until my wits end is near
Dont worry my heart for
My Unchanging God changes
Things for me
You may feel the weight
of the world on your shoulders
as its burdens wear you down
Dont worry your heart for
Your Unchanging God changes
Things for you
Our enemies they watch us
And plague us with fire
They hurl us around until we tire
Dont worry our hearts for
Our Unchanging God changes
Things for us
December
It was a December morn
My heart was filled with trepidation
Cause this was the day it was
No longer just me!
I anxiously watched the hours tick by
And soon the clock was chiming four
The church bells were pealing
Was that all for me?
The house was overflowing
With an excited bunch
Noisily moving to church in a rush
What is this feeling welling in me?
And at the altar stood my half
Wed soon be joined no longer one
and as his face welled up with love
I knew for certain hed complete my heart
For it was this December eve
He promised that he would
Take care of me!
My young man
Tiny little hands
Tiny little feet
Counting five fingers
Counting five toes
So divinely formed
And woven with His intricate hands
A tiny little mouth
With two beady eyes
A smile so tender
A cry so loud
Just to let us know
That he is around!
The first few months
Are the sweetest
Letting him explore
His tiny little world
Soon he will out grow
His tiny little world
Stepping into the pageant of man!
Marana tha Lord!
I wish I could sail upon a cloud so high
And move along to distant skies
To lands unknown by beast or man
To the place we know as City of Gold
To walk along on streets of gold
And bask in the light of Old
To drink from the fountain of Life
And eat from the tree of Life
I will no longer fear the cold long dark nights
For my Lord and my God will shed His great Light
I long to stay in His presence forever
And by His throne I will leave Him never
Surrounded by His mercy and grace
I will always gaze into His face
With the roaring multitude I will cry out
Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty
Who Is? Who Was? and Who is to come!
Marana tha Lord Marana tha
The third degree
My little son hes just about six
He prattles non stop at times I am sick
He knows all the Ws, I dont know how?
And before I know, its the third degree!
I am not given a chance to answer
When hes rattling off another
His questions range from this or that
Wonder what hes at!
Where does the sun go at night?
Why does the moon change its pretty sight?
Where does the sea end?
How does the rain fall?
These questions that keep burning him
while answers for a place to hide within
I am armed with technology as my guiding light
To answer questions am preparing my fight!
Silent Labour of love
My Granny shes loving and sweet
Shes up and about at a quarter to six
She does all her chores
Before the house stirs
Yetshe silently labored with a smile
Silently yet patiently shes at the hot stove
The heavenly smell of coffee brewing
Just tickles the nose with all her toil
While appams are rising and stews on the boil
Yetshe silently labored with a smile
The dishes she prepared was so fab
Her Kormas, curries and fries were so rad
the Puttu and dosa were heavens delight
Many a time wed put up a fight
Yet she silently labored with a smile
I miss my dear Nana with all of my heart
But I cherish her memories and all she taught
Her duty she did without any fee
She lives in my heart forever and free
No Longershe silently labours with a smile
The Golden Sands
The trees gently sway in the summer breeze
While the waves churn and foam on the sandy beach
Visitors lay in the hot summer sun
Drinking in the best of the summer fun
The salty air so thick with noise
From children who have no other choice
But to break free from the shackles of school
Into the blue of the sea so cool
As the children play so free
With gay abandon in the sea
A watchful eye their parents keep
And the other on trinkets they wish to keep
Trinkets Sarongs on display
A feast for eyes one must say
Loads to choose from shoes to hues
Luring everyone when they call
The bright sunny golden sands
Beckons everyone at hand
Alas! Its all somewhere
Far in the distant land
My loves song
I have my love right by my side
He is my friend and always my guide
My critic and my conscience keeper
With him always near I dare not twitter
He patiently listens to all I prattle
And he never says all I do is tattle
He lets me learn and I sing lifes song
With him beside me I can do no wrong
He lovingly holds me by my hand
And close beside me he does stand
As Adam promised Eve before the fall
Hed stand with her through it all
I thank the Almighty for what Hes given
He knows far better than what Ive chosen
For if it were up to me,
Im sure as you can see
Things would all go drastically wrong
And how can I then sing a song?
A string
My life is but a string of thread
That has a start but I see no end
My struggle and toil theyre many
So are my happy moments theyre plenty
I try to be patient with this life Im given
Sometimes its hard, but at times I am even
He loves me...
He tells me that He loves me
through the pouring rain...
He tells me that He loves me
through the lonely lane...
Every drop of tear
He has shielded in His palm...
Every bright new morn
gives to me an added charm...
A floating cloud
I wish I could float on a cloud, up way up high...
away from life's troubles cares and strife.
Looking down on creation from way up high...
watching God' creatures both great and small
wondering and reveling at His Majestic awe.
Why are we burdened with a load of care?
Why do we have to please the man of Earth
instead of the God of the air?
Why can't we be like the birds of the air?
who neither reap, sow nor care...
We are tainted, tried and tsted everyday -
by people who have no care.
My Shield
I wake up every morning and wonder what my life is worth
people all around seem so strange and so out of this earth.
Time flies, seasons change, yet I feel no thing, its all a haze.
I was at the threshold of life and now I stand in its midst
stones pelting, spears flying arrows darting...
I have no fear cause I wear my breast plate of righteousness
and the belt of truth...
The shield of faith covering me from arrows that flameth...
I wear on me the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit -
My God's Word...
United in Prayer
The golden rays that spread in the sky,
and kiss the earth with golden light.
Amidst the birth of a new born morn
God's Angel holds a magic wand,
to breathe new life to one and all.
The birds awake and chirp with glee
while flowers that blossom and bloom are free.
The day progresses with warmth and love
that has been showered from up above.
The even' twilight signals the end of day
when all God's creatures join together and pray
The Narrow Silver
As we watch the swaying palms
We gently glide along the banks
The children play along the river
As we pass the narrow silver
The shadows on the deep grey silver
Makes my heart aglow and quiver
Wondering if its secrets hold
Mysteries yet to man untold
A kingdom deep beneath the sand
With a marching kingly band
A mermaid waiting patiently
For her princely charming he
Gods Own Joy
With straw hats covered they work in the sun
Ready to cast their nets on the run
And as it sinks down deep in the ocean
Our heart beats faster with every motion
And as it rises the nets full of glitter
Drawing the crowds nearby with a flitter
As our boat slips quietly away
We are met by men with their ware
Loads full of fish, prawns, crabs and cray
We argue and we tussle
And with a great deal of struggle
We load our boat with a great deal of mussel
We continue along our way
All through Gods own land array
Watching the waters and the sky
Till we reached the land at nigh
Hearts bursting and filled with pride
To be a part of Gods own joy
City Lights
The city with its bright filled lights
Has always given me the frights
The hustle and bustle everywhere
The noisy crowd without a care
The taxi and the auto move
Along the road in a snaky groove
Id rather be 10000 miles
From all these city lights…
With the bustling and the noise
Of this great busy city heights
Sail Away
I wish to sail away to some distant land
So far away beyond time and sand
Just me and the great blue sky
Where the sea gulls fly oh so high
The dolphins swimming by my side
And the whales beat the gentle tide
To feel the North wind on my brow
To taste the drops of dewy snow
To sail across the seven seas
With no intention of touching shore
Raggedy Anne
My raggedy doll, she is so grand
With her patchy dress and face of tan
Her curly locks so dark and long
Her eyes so big and wide a yawn
I love my little raggedy doll
And let her sleep by me till dawn.
Shes my baby, shes my doll
Shes my little Raggedy Anne.
A helping hand
The poor in India need a helping hand
At times it seems they can hardly stand
They need to be taught to read and write
Armed with this they can begin their fight
We should encourage and
be encouraged to give our mite
With this we can end their strife
Calling all my brothers and sisters of this land
Reach out and give a helping hand
Wishful Thinking
We the citizens need a helping hand
Its the time for all to take a stand
The Aam Aadhmi the cry of nation
Who can listen to their situation?
The leader promises a shining India
How can She shine when all round is dull?
Land scams, phone scams, Is all we hear
When will this end is our foremost fear
The people who need to take action
Are busy forming coalition
It is justice that we seek
Or is it just wishful for the meek?
We are a nation formed by men
But fate has bound us to their plan
Oh when from this curse shall we all be free?
Time alone will tell we shall wait and see!
The Ink Black Sky
No moon lit night to shed its light
The ink black sky alone at night
No stars no planets to lend their light.
O! Lo and behold! A lone little star
Looking at me
Twinkling in the dark black sky
Gazing at me
With its bright little light
Twinkling at me with its little light
When all at once their numbers grew
First a few, then in millions
Finally bursting forth in billions
The ink black sky now filled with light
No longer a lonely soul at night
Fills my heart with its twinkling light
Transported
The train was speeding past the fields
The boy inside looked out with glee
The wires were like magic lines
Moving at a pace past space and time
The trees danced in the fading sunlight
The little huts just breathing life
The children quieting for the day
As they move in blurs just speeding by
The vendor inside cried Chai, Chai
The boy turned to him with an amused smile
The vendor looked at him and winked
While the little boy just looked and blinked
The train chugged along the railway line
The darkness filling every sign
The boy was lost in wonder sublime
At once transported into distant place and time
When suddenly he woke up to find
Himself in his room so cool and fine
Where he had been all the time
My family
I love my family and we are three
My love, Danny and me
We have a lot of fun together
Time, place or season does not matter
At weekends we are never free
Cause we are shopping or at a matinee
Folks say they never find us home
Cause all we do is ever roam
And youll never find us three
Cause well always be on a spree!
My Little Brat
I have a brat as you can see
He drives me up the wall two by three
Some days hes good O! so good
On others hes bad O! so bad
At times I feel that Ive been had
Sometimes hes such a loving doll
The next, no oh no not at all
He looks at me with those huge wide eyes
And I know Im hypnotized
He has me in the palm of his hand
My naughty brat hes Daniel
My Baby
An Angel was sleeping by my side
I dare not move, I dare not hide
As he moved and as he turned
I watched and waited until he squirmed
When all of a sudden he turned
and smiled the sweetest smile for me
